Discussion:
The Carolina Hurricanes did not show appropriate appreciation to the Adamses and Cam Ward after their big role in the Cup last year!

yes.....those boys were under contract. and yes, they were the "cow's
tail" as far as the money went also - each in the $600,000 to
$700,000 range. and some playas for the Hurricanes are making $4M and
more a year?

jeeezzzzz...how does Rutherford sleep at night? the shoddy way the
club handles the regular season, just dribblin' by in hopes of
acquiring the necessary personnel AT the trade deadline and hoping to
make the playoffs?

sure, it worked last year, but it looks as if it WILL NOT this year.
maybe "Big Jim" and crew need to come on off all that steak, lobster,
et. al. they enjoy nightly and eat a few peanut butter sandwiches.
So they can understand how the Adames and Cam Ward must feel.

Making $600 ~ 700k per year I think they eat very little peanut
butter. But yeah I agree that the money isn't going where it should.
As for the players making $4m, time to step up or pack up.
Glad I'm not the only one getting sick of this roller coaster with the
Canes.
Of course look at the Ranger's... biggest payroll in the league, it'll
be another 40 years before them bums win the cup again.

According to http://www.thefourthperiod.com/Carolina.html, Ward is at $684K
and Craig Adams is at $600K. As long as they're under contract, there's
no reason to give them more. No one knows if negotiations are ongoing or
non-existant at this point.

Offensively, the big difference this season in Eric Staal - he got the
$4M contract, and isn't performing anywhere near to his 100pt season.
I don't believe that there is anyone who doesn't acknowledge this. Cole
(the other $4M man) has been hurt, but when playing he's close to a point
a game.

I'm not to sure that anyone is eating peanut butter these days w/the
recall by Conagra foods for Salmonella, but someone making $600K/yr
shouldn't need to worry about it - unless they happen to like it.

Gonna be a tough summer - Ward is RFA, so he can't really go anywhere
but he should easily make more than John Grahame ($1.4M). Since the
Hurricanes were only $4M under the salary cap, that raise doesn't leave
much negotiating room for Cory Stillman and Ray Whitney.

Word in the Raleigh News and Observer is that Edmonton might make a run
at local boy Whitney (who was a stick boy for the team 20yrs ago) and
without Ryan Smyth - they have $5M of cap room.
